NCRTC Establishes Police Post at Anand Vihar Namo Bharat Station to Further Strengthen Passenger Security

Meerut.Commuter safety has been a key priority for NCRTC, and it has been making continuous and consistent efforts to ensure the same. Taking another significant step in this direction, NCRTC has constructed a police post near the Anand Vihar Namo Bharat station, which has been formally handed over to the Delhi Police. It will enhance the overall sense of safety for the commuters while they are travelling by Namo Bharat.

Located near Gate No. 2 of the station, the post will enable commuters to easily lodge complaints and seek assistance in case of any unlawful or emergency incidents during their travel on the Namo Bharat services or station premises. This facility will operate under the jurisdiction of the Patparganj Industrial Area Police Station and will provide timely support to the commuters.

Thousands of commuters, including a large number of women, travel daily through the Anand Vihar Namo Bharat station. This police post will strengthen on-ground safety measures, allowing commuters to report incidents promptly and access immediate police assistance. Namo Bharat train services operate from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, ensuring safe and reliable travel across the region.

NCRTC is also constructing similar police posts at other stations along the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor to further enhance security. Construction is underway at New Ashok Nagar, Guldhar, and Duhai Namo Bharat stations and is expected to be completed soon. Police posts are being planned at all stations across the corridor in a phased manner.

Recently, police posts near Sahibabad and Ghaziabad Namo Bharat stations were completed and made operational. The outpost near Sahibabad station functions under the jurisdiction of the Link Road Police Station, Trans-Hind Zone, while the Ghaziabad station outpost falls under the Nagar (Ghaziabad) Zone. Both facilities allow commuters to register complaints related to incidents at the station or train services and seek assistance from local police authorities.

In addition to this, NCRTC has implemented a multi-layered security system across stations and trains. All Namo Bharat stations and trains are equipped with CCTV cameras monitored 24x7 through a central Security Control Centre (SCC). Each station has a dedicated police room, and surveillance teams coordinate with local units for rapid response whenever required. Closed-circuit TV screens are also installed at the stations for commuters to view live surveillance footage. Security checks are carried out at entry gates using multi-zone Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMDs), ensuring a safe and secure journey for all the commuters.

At present, a 55-km section of the 82 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South, with 11 stations is operational for people and the remaining section will also be commissioned soon.
