NCRTC Celebrates ‘Namo Bharat Diwas’ Marking Two Successful Years of Namo Bharat Operations

Meerut.NCRTC celebrated Namo Bharat Diwas at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, marking the second anniversary of the commissioning of Namo Bharat services for the people on Monday. The event was graced by Shri Tokhan Sahu, Hon’ble Minister of State for Housing & Urban Affairs, as the Guest of Honour. Shri Srinivas Katikithala, Secretary, MoHUA, was also present on the occasion. Shri Shalabh Goel, Managing Director, NCRTC, along with the Directors and senior officials, welcomed the dignitaries.
The Hon’ble Minister of State launched the Namo Bharat Signature Tune, giving India’s first semi-high-speed regional train a distinct musical identity. Blending the richness of Indian classical sounds with modern Western harmonies, the tune captures the true essence of Namo Bharat- rooted in heritage yet resonating with the spirit of modern India.
On this occasion, NCRTC reflected on the remarkable journey of Namo Bharat over the past year, highlighting key milestones, initiatives to enhance commuter experience, and steps towards environmental and financial sustainability. These achievements were showcased through a film.
Hon’ble Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs and Power, Shri Manohar Lal, extended his best wishes to Team NCRTC through a message, congratulating them on the successful journey of Namo Bharat.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Tokhan Sahu, Hon’ble Minister of State for MoHUA, extended warm greetings on Namo Bharat Diwas and commended the project as a shining example of modern India. “I especially appreciate the women leading operations and this project’s role in enabling fast, sustainable, and green regional connectivity. It is driving development in cities like Ghaziabad and Meerut. I commend NCRTC’s timely execution, which underscores the government’s commitment to seamless and inclusive infrastructure,” he said.
Shri Srinivas Katikithala, Secretary, MoHUA, expressed pride in being part of the Namo Bharat Diwas celebrations with the NCRTC team. He noted that NCRTC has built a strong identity in the transport sector in a very short span of time, with the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor standing as a testament to its success. He also shared his personal anecdote of Namo Bharat commute where he could reach in time for a meeting due to Namo Bharat Trains.
Welcoming employees and their families, Shri Shalabh Goel, Managing Director, NCRTC, said that the strength and trust of the NCRTC family are the true foundations of its success. He expressed special gratitude to the families who stood firmly beside the team members through every challenge. He added that NCRTC has been at the forefront of adopting cutting-edge technologies, leading India’s transformation towards modern, efficient, and sustainable transport infrastructure.
The occasion also featured the Annual NCRTC Awards Ceremony, where employees were felicitated for their exemplary performances during the year. The awardees were recognised for their dedication, innovation, and contribution towards its successful and timely implementation and embedding sustainable practices in the project, transforming it into one of India’s most advanced rail networks.
A vibrant cultural programme, 'When Music Danced- The R.D. Burman Saga', celebrating the legendary Indian music director and composer, was also presented by the Western Railway Fine Arts & Cultural Association with the support of Central Railway Cultural Association.
Currently, Namo Bharat services are operational on a 55-km stretch with 11 stations of the 82-km Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut corridor, the rest of which will be commissioned soon. Through the adoption of advanced technologies, NCRTC has introduced India’s first semi-high-speed regional train service, setting new benchmarks in regional mobility. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the first 17-km Priority Section between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot on October 20, 2023, marking the historic launch of India’s first Namo Bharat.
