52 Additional Trips to be Added to Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor During Kanwar Yatra; Trains to be Available Every 8 Minutes

Meerut.The holy month of Shravan begins on July 30, during which a large number of devotees travel to Haridwar to collect 'Kanwar'. Due to which, traffic movement on several major roads get affected for both public transport and private vehicles. As a result, a significant increase in commuter footfall on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor is expected during this period. To ensure the convenience of the commuters, NCRTC will operate 52 additional daily train trips on the Namo Bharat corridor from July 30 onwards.

At present, Namo Bharat trains operate at a frequency of every 10 minutes. With the introduction of these additional trips, trains will be available every 8 minutes for commuters. These additional trips will be operated between July 30 and August 14 across the entire corridor i.e. between Sarai Kale Khan & Modipuram. If required, NCRTC may further increase the frequency of train services.

Currently, the Namo Bharat corridor records an average daily ridership of around one lakh commuters. With a substantial increase in commuter traffic expected during the Kanwar Yatra, these additional trips are being introduced to ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience. Alongside the Namo Bharat services, Meerut Metro trains continue to operate between Meerut South and Modipuram, providing seamless connectivity within the city.

During the Kanwar Yatra, traffic police often restricts traffic on one side of the road or close them entirely to facilitate the movement of devotees. This leads to congestion, making road travel unpredictable. In such circumstances, Namo Bharat will offer a fast, reliable, and punctual mode of transport for the region. The enhanced train frequency will particularly benefit daily commuters, students, and office-goers by enabling hassle-free travel despite road restrictions.

Road closures may temporarily affect parking facilities at some Namo Bharat stations. NCRTC will keep commuters informed if such a situation arises. With support from CISF in Delhi and UPSSF in Uttar Pradesh, NCRTC is making further efforts to ensure minimal inconvenience to commuters.
