NCRTC Wins Gold at National Awards for e-Governance 2025 for Cybersecurity Innovation

Meerut.NCRTC has been bestowed with the Gold Award at the prestigious National Awards for e-Governance 2025, organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India. The award, along with an amount of rupees 10 lakh was presented by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy, and Department of Space, Government of India, during the 28th National Conference on e-Governance held at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

NCRTC received this recognition in the category of “Best e-Governance Practices/Innovation in Cybersecurity” for its pioneering work in embedding robust cyber and digital security into the Namo Bharat project. As commuter services such as ticketing platforms, mobile applications and customer service are increasingly integrated with operational technologies like signalling, SCADA, rolling stock control and LTE communication networks, the risk of cyber threats expands. NCRTC has addressed this challenge by ensuring that advanced security measures are in place from the ground up so that commuters experience speed and convenience without any compromise on safety of commuters or reliability of the system.

For Namo Bharat, cybersecurity is an integral part of the project. Through phased implementation, segregation of IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operational Technology) networks, strict access controls, continuous monitoring and the use of unidirectional gateways, NCRTC has created a secure environment where critical train operations remain protected even as real-time data enhances commuter services. This means commuters benefit from faster journeys, seamless ticketing and reliable information while the underlying systems that keep trains moving safely are shielded from cyber risks.

As part of its commuter-first approach, NCRTC has deployed numerous first of its kind technologies while implementing India’s First Regional Rail Corridor between Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut. ETCS Hybrid Level-3 signalling over LTE communication network, a global first, and ballastless precast slab track technology for low maintenance and long-term durability are to name a few. These advance technologies not only ensure fast connectivity but are also backed by state-of-the-art digital protection and resilient infrastructure.

This achievement reflects NCRTC’s commitment to delivering a new standard of public transport, one where cutting-edge technology, rigorous cybersecurity and world-class infrastructure come together to offer commuters a safe, comfortable and dependable way to travel today, while laying the foundation for secure and seamless regional mobility in the future.
