Major Dhyan Chand State Sports University Officials Meet GovernorAnandiben Patel and highlighted university’s achievements and development journey

MEERUT, September 21, 2025 – Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Deep Ahlawat, VSM (Retd), called on the Governor of Uttar Pradesh,Anandiben Patel, and briefed her on the key achievements and ongoing developments of the state’s first dedicated sports university.

The Hon’ble Governor had arrived on Sunday to attend the convocation of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology in Modipuram. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Ahlawat apprised the Chancellor of the ongoing construction progress at the university premises in Salawa and highlighted the recent milestones of Major Dhyan Chand State Sports University. He was accompanied by Registrar Sunil Kumar Jha and Finance Comptroller Laxmi Mishra.

Maj Gen Ahlawat informed the Hon’ble Governor that despite certain delays in construction work due to the slow pace of the construction company, the university has successfully launched its first academic session with the inaugural batch of the BPES course. He also detailed the measures being undertaken to ensure proper arrangements of lighting and security in the hostels, particularly the girls’ hostel, and explained the facilities to be provided in the hostel and the mess. He further shared that the university has adopted 25 TB patients and provided them protein rich food and will soon begin an HPV vaccination drive for girls in nearby villages to help prevent cervical cancer.

Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel directed that all adequate facilities be ensured for the girls’ hostel and suggested that the hostel mess be run by students under a cooperative model to encourage responsibility and participation. She also advised the university to keep a close watch on the quality of ongoing construction work.

Governor Patel expressed her appreciation for the university’s vision to emerge as a hub of sporting excellence and emphasized the significance of holistic development for student-athletes through a balanced approach encompassing education, core values, and global exposure.

Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Deep Ahlawat assured the Hon’ble Governor that the university will continue to align its initiatives with the objectives of the Uttar Pradesh Sports Policy and the New National Sports Policy. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to nurturing talent, promoting sports culture, and contributing meaningfully toward India’s ambition of becoming a leading sporting nation.
