Team NCRTC’s Vigilance and Timely Intervention Helps Reunite Child with Family at Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat Station

The vigilance and timely intervention of Team NCRTC helped rescue a young child and reunite him with his family at Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat Station. A staff member got suspicious of a woman travelling with a child who appeared distressed and uncomfortable in her company, leading to timely intervention.
The incident took place when station staff noticed a woman carrying the young child, who was crying incessantly. Sensing that something was amiss, a female staff member enquired the woman about her relationship with the child. The woman claimed that the child was hers but the child denied knowing her. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of the Station Controller, who promptly alerted Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at the station and informed the Delhi Police. Meanwhile, the child's parents were also contacted and the woman and the child were subsequently handed over to the Delhi Police for further investigation.
Managing Director, NCRTC, Shri Shalabh Goel personally appreciated the station staff members for their alertness and quick response that prevented a mishappening.
This is not an isolated incident. Over the last year, the alertness, presence of mind and coordinated response of Team NCRTC have helped reunite several separated families and prevent potentially unsafe situations. In another notable incident, real-time CCTV monitoring helped identify three minor girls travelling in distress with four adult men at Anand Vihar Namo Bharat Station in September last year. The matter was immediately reported to CISF and the Delhi Police, who confirmed that the girls had been reported missing from Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh. The girls were safely rescued and handed over to the authorities.
Ensuring the safety and convenience of commuters has remained a key priority for NCRTC since the inception of the project. The entire station premises and trains are monitored through CCTV cameras. These live feeds are visible at the Station Control Room (SCR) as well as the Security Control Centre (SCC) at the Duhai Depot in Ghaziabad. The SCC monitors the corridor, gathers information and ensures quick response by contacting the respective stations, field officers, local units etc. where required in undesired situations. In addition, station staff remains vigilant and a train attendant is also present in every train for the assistance of the commuters. Apart from this, the security of the Delhi section of the corridor is ensured by CISF while the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF) manages the security of the stretch in Uttar Pradesh. Mock drills and trainings are also organised at regular intervals for the station staff to ascertain and respond appropriately to various unforeseen and emergency situations.
