A New Stop for Book Lovers at Anand Vihar Namo Bharat Station, NCRTC Organises Book Fair
Meerut.Turning everyday commutes into moments of discovery, NCRTC, in collaboration with Booktales, is hosting a book fair at Anand Vihar Namo Bharat Station, inviting commuters to browse, pick, and carry home books as part of their daily travel. The book fair, StoryBox, currently underway from 12 to 21 December from 10 am to 10 pm adds a lively, reader-friendly pause to one of the region’s busiest transit hubs.
A distinctive feature of the book fair is its box-based purchase format. Visitors, instead of purchasing books individually, can select and buy books by filling a box. Two box options are available, allowing commuters to choose a size that suits their reading preferences and budget, and fill it with as many books as comfortably fit inside. This format adds a fun twist to book buying experience, encouraging the visitors to explore across genres and take home their favourite titles in a single purchase.
The fair offers a diverse collection of titles, including fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, and new arrivals, along with a dedicated section for young readers. Authors are also visiting this book fair for Meet and Greet and visitors can interact with them one on one and get their books signed. A separate merchandise zone has also been set up, adding to the overall experience for book lovers and collectors.
For commuters, the experience is simple and spontaneous, step off a train, browse through shelves, fill a box, and continue the journey with stories in hand. The fair blends seamlessly into the rhythm of daily travel, making books an easy and enjoyable part of the commute. Anand Vihar’s connectivity with multiple transport modes further enhances access to the fair for a wide cross-section of commuters and visitors.
The initiative is part of NCRTC’s continued efforts to make Namo Bharat stations active public spaces, integrating culture, learning, and leisure into the commuting environment. By hosting the book fair within the station premises, NCRTC aims to make reading more accessible and encourage meaningful engagement during everyday travel.
Such initiatives also reflect NCRTC’s approach to creating commuter-friendly spaces that go beyond transit, reinforcing the role of Namo Bharat stations as inclusive urban hubs that serve both mobility and community needs.
