Power supply started in the section beyond Meerut south in Partapur, Rithani and Shatabdi Nagar stations in Meerut

Meerut-Power supply has been initiated in the section beyond Meerut South from the Auxiliary Substations (ASS) installed at Partapur, Rithani, and Shatabdi Nagar stations in Meerut. These stations, located beyond Meerut South, have now been in the shape and the Auxiliary Substations at these locations have now been connected to the receiving substation with a 33 kV power capacity.

Partapur and Rithani are metro stations, while Shatabdi Nagar is an RRTS station where passengers will have access to Namo Bharat trains. The ASS rooms have been built at the concourse level of these stations, and after the installation and testing of electrical equipment, they are now fully operational. With the energization complete, these ASS will supply power to the stations. A 33 kV capacity cable line has been laid from the ASS of Meerut South RRTS station to Partapur, Rithani, and Shatabdi Nagar stations via the viaduct for power distribution.

Auxiliary Substations (ASS) are being built at all RRTS and Meerut Metro stations to ensure uninterrupted power supply, with electricity being provided from the nearest designated Receiving Substations (RSS). A total of five RSSs is being established across the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor at Sarai Kale Khan, Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, Shatabdi Nagar, and Modipuram. Out of these, the RSSs at Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Shatabdi Nagar have been completed.

NCRTC is also prioritizing sustainability by incorporating rainwater harvesting systems, sewage treatment plants, green spaces, LED lighting, natural lighting, and energy-efficient air conditioning in all electrical substations, RRTS stations, and depots.

The viaduct construction between these three stations in Meerut has already been completed, and track-laying activities are currently underway. Additionally, the installation of Overhead Equipment (OHE) and signalling systems for train operations is progressing steadily.

An agreement has been signed with Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL) to supply power to this section. Electricity is delivered from the UPPTCL grid substation to the NCRTC receiving substation at a voltage of 220kV. From there, 25kV electricity will be used for train operations, while 33kV electricity will be distributed to stations for other needs through the ASS at RRTS stations.

Alongside the operation of Namo Bharat trains on the 42 km stretch from Sahibabad to Meerut South, construction of other under-construction stations is advancing rapidly. Once the entire 82-km corridor becomes operational by the target deadline of June 2025, passengers will be able to travel between Delhi and Meerut in less than an hour.
