NCRTC Further Expands Services with 10 Additional Namo Bharat Trips During Peak Hours on Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor
Meerut. To facilitate the growing commuter demand on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, NCRTC has further expanded Namo Bharat train services by introducing 10 additional trips between Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut South Namo Bharat station during peak hours. This is apart from the 8 additional trips added by NCRTC last week. The enhanced services have been launched to provide greater convenience, reduce waiting time and ensure a smoother travel experience for the increasing number of daily commuters.
Under the new schedule including all 18 additional trips, 10 additional trips will be available between during the morning peak hours between 7:00 AM and 11:30 AM, while 8 more trips will operate during the evening peak hours between 5:00 PM and 8:30 PM. This augmentation will result in increased frequency and greater flexibility for commuters during rush hours.
With more trains now available during high-demand periods, commuters will benefit from reduced waiting time, smoother boarding, better availability of seats and improved overall travel experience. The additional services will particularly benefit daily office-goers, students and other regular commuters by enabling more reliable, predictable and comfortable journeys across the region.
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor has been witnessing a consistent rise in ridership, with nearly one lakh commuters now using the service daily. The increasing preference for Namo Bharat reflects commuters’ growing trust in the system as a fast, reliable, safe and comfortable mode of regional transit.
This initiative is in line with Prime Minister’s appeal to use public transport. The enhanced service also assumes added significance amid the prevailing heatwave conditions across Delhi-NCR and western Uttar Pradesh. Several parts of Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut region have recently been recording temperatures around 45°C, with heatwave conditions prevailing across the region. At a time when road travel during peak daytime hours becomes increasingly challenging due to extreme temperatures and traffic congestion, the fully air-conditioned Namo Bharat trains and stations are providing commuters a relief from soaring temperatures and more comfortable mobility option. It is also providing a more sustainable option and encouraging people to opt for more efficient and environment-friendly public transport instead of their private vehicles.
NCRTC continues to align train operations with evolving commuter requirements. The addition of more trips during peak hours is another step towards strengthening sustainable public transport in the National Capital Region.
