NCRTC Organises Assistive Aids Distribution Drive in Meerut for Differently-Abled Individuals
Meerut. In continuation of the Assistive Aid Distribution Drive, NCRTC organised another chapter in Meerut on Tuesday, 13 January 2026. This initiative is aimed at enhancing mobility, accessibility, and independence for differently-abled individuals residing nearby Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor. This drive is being organized in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific (JFPR).
The event was held at DN Polytechnic, Meerut, where senior officials of NCRTC and ADB distributed 135 motorised tricycles to differently abled individuals. This initiative not only promotes mobility and accessibility; it plays a vital role in empowering differently-abled individuals. By equipping them with assistive devices that foster independence and ease of movement, the program enables more active participation in social and professional spheres. With better access to transportation, daily activities, and workspaces, these individuals can explore job opportunities that were previously out of reach. Armed with the right tools to navigate their surroundings confidently, they are better positioned to unlock their potential and be a part of the economic and social development.
NCRTC is committed to making the Namo Bharat Stations and train services inclusive and accessible for all. This initiative represents an important step toward enhancing the quality of life for differently-abled individuals and promoting greater mobility, accessibility, and social inclusion.
Under the JFPR program, NCRTC have taken many initiatives to enhance the mobility, independence, and access to opportunities for the beneficiaries. It includes distribution of assistive aids and entrepreneurial equipment like wheelchairs, smart canes, crutches and hearing machines to differently-abled individuals. Additionally, sewing machines were also provided to women from economically weaker sections to encourage self-employment and skill-based livelihoods. Apart from this, various trainings for women like self-defence, skills development, and e-rickshaw and taxi driver training were also organised. NCRTC will continue to organise such distribution drives in future as well, along the alignment of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor.
