Namo Bharat Proving to Be a Boon for Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business in NCR

Meerut. The operation of the Namo Bharat trains has brought a wave of convenience for residents of Meerut and nearby regions. As India’s first semi-high-speed regional train, it has transformed daily commute across Delhi, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and surrounding areas, making it significantly faster, more comfortable and efficient. It has especially redefined convenience for daily commuters between Delhi, Ghaziabad, Modinagar and Meerut. The travel which earlier used to take hours, has now been transformed in journey of minutes with high-speed Namo Bharat. People can now work in cities like Delhi, Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar while continuing to live in their hometowns, closer to their families. At present, Namo Bharat is operational across 11 stations on the 55-km stretch from New Ashok Nagar in Delhi to Meerut South.

Namo Bharat, with its maximum operational speed of 160 kmph, has proven particularly beneficial for working professionals, women, senior citizens, and students. Whether for jobs, business, or even leisure travel, people commuting between Delhi, Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Meerut are experiencing new levels of comfort and accessibility.

Dr. Neha, a resident of Delhi, was all praises for Namo Bharat and the facilities it offers. She said, “I often travel to Meerut and Muzaffarnagar. Before the operations of Namo Bharat, I used to travel from Delhi in a private car or cab-taxi. I used to get stuck in traffic jams; it used to take three hours to reach Meerut from Delhi. A lot of time used to get waste, but Namo Bharat is a time-saver. I reach Meerut from Delhi in about half an hour. I am a doctor and I am able to give the precious time I save to my patients. It is a very efficient, safe and fast facility. The train also has a separate ladies coach.”

Dr. Neha is not alone. Thousands of working professionals are now commuting daily from their hometowns to Delhi with ease. A government employee shared, “Before Namo Bharat trains, it was not possible to travel to Delhi for work every day. I had to rent a room in Delhi. Now I am able to reach home every day, it is quite comfortable. Trains are available every 15 minutes. The time I save on commute, I spend it with my family or children at home.”

A female commuter working in the medical field echoed the sentiment, highlighting both time and safety benefits. “Earlier we had to travel by buses. It was not safe and I had to face traffic jams on daily basis, but Namo Bharat has become one-stop solution for all these problems. It used to take three hours to travel and I had to leave home at 7 o’clock in the morning. Now, I leave at 9 o’clock and still reach my office on time.”

A government school teacher from Meerut sharing her experience, said “whenever there was a training or workshop, I used to have sleepless nights as often these were organised in Ghaziabad or similar areas. The time also used to be 8.30 or 9 o’clock in the morning. It was very difficult to travel by buses and reach another city from Meerut so early. Firstly, buses were never available on time, if you get lucky to catch them, they used to be too crowded it’s better if I don’t say anything about the seats. I thank the government from the bottom of my heart for Namo Bharat. It is safe, saves time and there is never a shortage of seats due to reserved women's coach.”

Farooq Qureshi is a commission agent from Muradnagar working in the Sahibabad fruit market. He explained how earlier he would spend nearly ₹500 per day commuting by his private car, facing traffic daily. Now, he reaches Sahibabad in a cool, air-conditioned coach for just ₹120. Thanking the Indian government for this initiative, he said “This is a commendable work done by our government. I congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji for this and also congratulate CM of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath ji for providing such a good facility to the people.”

Ashok Rana from Meerut said that Namo Bharat has allowed him to use his time more productively. The time earlier wasted in commute only to Anand Vihar in Delhi, is now being saved with Namo Bharat. He said, “now I don’t have to get stuck in traffic jams or wait for the bus. I simply sit in Namo Bharat and reach my destination comfortably. I am eagerly waiting for the day I will be able to travel to Modipuram.”

The people of Meerut are soon going to get the local Metro services as well with Namo Bharat. The metro will connect 13 stations from Meerut South to Modipuram Depot. After the operational Meerut South station, Partapur, Rithani, Shatabdi Nagar, Brahmpuri, Meerut Central, Bhaisali, Begumpul, MES Colony, Daurli, Meerut North, Modipuram and Modipuram Depot are Metro stations. Out of these,

Meerut Central, Bhaisali, and Begumpul are underground. Four key stations — Meerut South, Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul, and Modipuram — will provide both Namo Bharat and metro services.

Beyond speed and connectivity, Namo Bharat is also offering a much-needed respite from the summer heat. With its selective door opening system, only the required doors open, helping maintain internal cool temperatures and conserving energy. Contrary to other available transport options of the region, where commuters have to struggle with dust and pollution, Namo Bharat ensures a faster, more comfortable and convenient travel. Namo Bharat is not just a train, it's a game-changer in how people live, work, and travel across NCR.
