NCRTC Showcases Pioneering RRTS Corridor and Namo Bharat Train at the 17th Urban Mobility Conference & Expo 2024.

Meerut -With an exhibition stall designed taking inspiration from the shape of Namo Bharat trains, NCRTC presented the transformative features of India’s first RRTS Corridor at the 17th Urban Mobility Conference & Expo, being held in Gandhinagar from 25th -27th October 2024. Bhupendra Bhai Patel, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat; Harsh Sanghavi, Transport and Home Minister Govt of Gujarat; Raj Kumar, Chief Secretary, Gujarat, along with other dignitaries, visited the NCRTC stall, where they were welcomed by MD NCRTC Shri Shalabh Goel. 

Shri Goel informed the Hon'ble Chief minister about the new-age, state-of-the-art RRTS being implemented between Delhi and Meerut and its progress.

He further elaborated that how RRTS, a semi high speed regional mobility solution complemented by Metro services, bus services in NCR, encouraging use of public transport. By enabling travellers to cover greater distances in shorter time, RRTS enhances accessibility and convenience, making it an ideal solution for commuters navigating for employment, education, healthcare and housing opportunities. 

In one of the technical  sessions of the conference, Shri Goel explained that with the RRTS project NCRTC has focused on proving extensive multi-modal integration with other existing mass transit systems, thereby creating an extensive network-of-networks, improve ridership, and ensure long-term sustainability.NCRTC’s recent collaboration with DMRC and IRCTC, which allows passengers to book QR-code tickets for Namo Bharat, Delhi Metro, and Indian Railways, was also highlighted.

NCRTC’s stall, enhanced with models and information panels, highlighted the commuter-centric amenities at the RRTS corridor and the thoughtfully crafted features of Namo Bharat trains, such as the adoption of National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), which enables passengers to travel seamlessly on Namo Bharat, access other transit systems, and make retail payments on a single platform.

Aligned with the "Make in India" and "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" initiatives, Namo Bharat trains are manufactured in Savli, Gujarat. Among the pioneering features showcased were the Meerut Metro—India’s first metro to operate on RRTS infrastructure, and the ETCS Level 2 signaling system. Other highlights included indigenously developed platform screen doors and NCRTC’s commitment to local employment, with women now at the forefront of managing operation of the Namo Bharat trains. 

The RRTS Corridor recently celebrated one year of operations, serving over 40 lakh passengers on its 42- kilometer route, connecting nine stations from Sahibabad to Meerut South. The corridor is set to expand to 54 kilometers with the addition of the Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar section,which includes key stations like Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar,further enhancing connectivity.
