IIM Kashipur Foundation for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (FIED) inaugurated its flagship entrepreneurship programs Drishti, under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), and Sahas-Saksham, under RKVY RAFTAAR, on 19th August 2020.

The event was chaired by the director of IIM Kashipur, Prof Kulbhushan Balooni, who lighted the lamp to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship. The managing director of FIED and project coordinator of both the programs, Prof Safal Batra shared his experience with a cohort of entrepreneurs.

Most of the professors at IIM attended the event maintaining social distancing. The inauguration program was attended online by all the 140 selected entrepreneurs via video conferencing platform. Dr. Anita Gupta, Scientist, advisor to Government of India, DST did join the event online to grace the occasion.

Earlier IIM Kashipur FIED had received around 1000 applications for both the programs out of which 90 startups were finally selected for Drishti program and 50 startups were selected for the RAFTAAR program through a rigorous screening process.

These 140 startups will undergo training for two months, starting from 24th of August, which would cover most of the aspects of entrepreneurship. After the training program, the startups would be evaluated again before they would be given an opportunity to pitch in for funding from investors.

Last year, 22 Agri startups (out of 30) were selected by the Ministry of Agriculture for final funding and these startups were promised 2.95 crore INR funding making IIM Kashipur FIED the RABI with the highest aggregate funding received for its startups. This year, FIED wants to help more and more startups to reach newer heights and help us all to realize the national dream of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
