-On World Photography Day, Namo Bharat Station Becomes a Platform for Inclusion, Celebrating Creativity and Empowering Neurodiverse Artists
Meerut. On the occasion of World Photography Day, Managing Director of NCRTC, Shri Shalabh Goel, inaugurated a unique photo exhibition ‘Sitaare Namo Bharat Mein’, curated by neurodiverse artists at Anand Vihar Namo Bharat Station today. Directors and other senior officials of NCRTC were also present on the occasion.
With this exhibition, NCRTC is providing a platform to these talented photographers to showcase their talent to thousands of Namo Bharat Commuters. It also offers a unique opportunity to the audience to see and understand the world through the eyes of these neurodiverse artists. Captured in these photographs are not just the creativity of these artists but their perspective of the world, open for all to view and appreciate.
Organized at the concourse level of the station, this initiative celebrates the spirit of social inclusion and generates awareness on neurodiverse conditions like Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It is in line with the NCRTC’s value of inclusivity and universal acceptability and accessibility.
Shri Goel also interacted with the photographers who shared their experiences and inspirations behind the displayed photographs. The participating photographers also received certificates and mementos from NCRTC in recognition of their talent and dedication.
The exhibition is being organized in collaboration with KnowDisability.org, a one-of-a-kind initiative that empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through creative vocational training. The showcased photographs have been captured by neurodiverse individuals trained by this initiative at India’s first photography studio run entirely by neurodiverse youth. The exhibition is open to the general public till 6th September 2025, free of cost.
The participating artists and their families also experienced a ride on the Namo Bharat train. Their excitement of travelling at a maximum operational speed of 160 kmph, added to their sense of pride and inclusion. In line with NCRTC’s ‘commuters-first’ approach, the organization has spared no effort to provide a comfortable and seamless commuting experience. To facilitate the movement of visually impaired passengers, dedicated tactile paths have been created at stations, to avoid any confusion guiding them along the shortest possible routes to key areas. Additionally, special, spacious lifts have been installed to facilitate the movement of stretchers and wheelchairs for medical needs. Multiple lifts and escalators have also been provided to ensure an easy and hassle-free journey for all commuters, especially the elderly, differently-abled individuals, children, and women.
Through initiatives like ‘Sitaare Namo Bharat Mein’, NCRTC is reinforcing its commitment to making Namo Bharat stations vibrant social spaces that go beyond transit, transforming them into hubs of culture, inclusivity, and community engagement. NCRTC has been continuously carrying out such initiatives in the form of painting exhibitions or ‘Musical Fridays’ to turn Namo Bharat station into vibrant social or cultural hubs and not just transit points. With music, art, and now photography, each Namo Bharat station is evolving into a zone of connectivity, creativity, and shared experiences.
