Namo Bharat Makes Travel to ‘Chhota Haridwar’ Seamless, The Sacred Site Located Just Steps Away from Muradnagar Station

- Situated on the Banks of GangNahar, Chhota Haridwar Draws Large Crowds from Delhi, Meerut and Nearby Areas

Meerut -With the operations of India’s first Namo Bharat train, travelling has become faster, efficient, and more convenient for residents across Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. The revered destination of ‘Chhota Haridwar’ has now become more accessible than ever from Delhi-NCR. The Namo Bharat trains are currently operational on a 55-km stretch between New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and Meerut South. Along this route lies the Muradnagar Namo Bharat station, from where 'Chhota Haridwar' is just a few steps away.

Located in Muradnagar, 'Chhota Haridwar' is about 35 km from Anand Vihar in Delhi, which is now only a 22-23 minute ride away via Namo Bharat. The fare from Anand Vihar to Muradnagar is just ₹80 in a standard coach and ₹95 in a premium coach. Meanwhile, from Ghaziabad, which is around 18 km away, commuters can reach Muradnagar in just 12 minutes for a fare of ₹40 in standard coach. From Meerut South station (Bhudbaral) located about 23 km away, commuters can reach this destination in just 13 to 14 minutes at a fare of ₹60.

From Muradnagar station, commuters can reach Chhota Haridwar with just a short walk. Set along the Ganga canal, the spiritual ambiance of this religious place mirrors that of Haridwar. Devotees frequently visit to collect holy Ganga water, take ritual baths, and perform religious ceremonies. For those unable to travel to Haridwar due to time or logistical constraints, Chhota Haridwar has emerged as a meaningful and accessible alternative.

With the upcoming Ganga Dussehra, celebrated on the Dashami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Jyeshtha, devotees will be visiting in large numbers for ritual bathing, charitable offerings, and prayers during the auspicious period. Namo Bharat ensures this journey is not only fast, but also safe and comfortable. The train features air-conditioned coaches, cushioned seating, mobile charging points and a strong emphasis on cleanliness and security, ensuring a convenient journey for women, elderly, and children.

Namo Bharat has brought a new dimension to religious travel and tourism in Muradnagar and the surrounding areas. Moreover, the improved connectivity is also benefitting local shopkeepers and small businesses. This synergy of faith and modern infrastructure represents a significant step towards preserving cultural heritage while embracing the progress of India.

Currently, the Namo Bharat train is operational in 55-km stretch between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South with 11 stations. Soon, metro services will also be available from Meerut South and extend to stations including Partapur, Rithani, Shatabdi Nagar, Brahmapuri, Meerut Central, Bhaisali, Begumpul, MES Colony, Daurli, Meerut North, Modipuram, and Modipuram Depot. Among these, Meerut Central, Bhaisali, and Begumpul will feature underground stations. Additionally, four stations in Meerut, Meerut South, Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul, and Modipuram, will offer both Metro and Namo Bharat services, with Namo Bharat trains running at a maximum operational speed of 160 kmph.

All Namo Bharat stations offer facilities like free drinking water, daily newspapers (both in English and Hindi) and clean restrooms. For women travelling with young children, diaper-changing stations have also been provided in the washrooms. Furthermore, a dedicated service lane has been provided beneath each station, allowing cabs and private vehicles to drop commuters right near the entry and exit gates. This not only helps prevent traffic congestion on main roads but also minimizes the risk of accidents. The same facilities will be extended to Meerut Metro stations as well.

Special attention has been given to security across the Namo Bharat network. Every station is equipped with ample CCTV cameras for complete surveillance, allowing prompt action in any unforeseen situation. Each train coach also has CCTV cameras to ensure passenger safety. The remaining stretch of this 82-km corridor, from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut, will soon be operationalised for people.
