German Ambassador to India, Dr. Philipp Ackermann, Takes a Ride on Namo Bharat
Meerut-His Excellency Dr. Philipp Ackermann, German Ambassador to India, took a ride aboard Namo Bharat train and visited India’s first RRTS corridor. Accompanied by Shri Shalabh Goel, Managing Director of NCRTC, the Ambassador was warmly welcomed and briefed about the project by senior officials of NCRTC.
Dr. Ackermann experienced the ride on Namo Bharat train from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot RRTS station and experienced the fast, safe, and reliable travel provided by this new-age mobility solution. He appreciated the commuter-centric amenities at the RRTS stations, the features of Namo Bharat trains which have been thoughtfully designed for comfortable regional commute, and the several initiatives been taken for making RRTS one of the greenest modes of transit enabling sustainable development in the region.
The visit also included a tour of the state-of-the-art Operations Control Center at the RRTS Depot in Duhai, where team NCRTC demonstrated several ground-breaking technologies being adopted for this first-of-its-kind project in India. Dr. Ackermann expressed admiration for the timely implementation of this complex large-scale project. Further, he hailed the Indo-German partnership between NCRTC and Deutsche Bahn’s Indian subsidiary for the efficient operations of the first RRTS corridor.
The visit by the German Ambassador highlights the deepening collaboration between India and Germany in the field of sustainable transportation and infrastructure development. The visit concluded with tree plantation at the RRTS Depot in Duhai.
Currently, Namo Bharat services operate on a 42-kilometer stretch covering nine stations, including Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, and Meerut South. The corridor will soon extend to 54 kilometers with the addition of the Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar section, which includes key stations such as Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar.
