NCRTC Adds 8 Additional Trips During Peak Hours to facilitate increasing daily ridership on Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor
Meerut. In a move aimed at enhancing commuter convenience and addressing increasing travel demand, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has introduced eight additional Namo Bharat train trips during peak hours on the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut corridor from tomorrow. The additional services are being introduced to ease commuter rush and further strengthen public transport accessibility across the corridor.
The initiative has also been undertaken to facilitate greater use of public transport at a time when advisories have encouraged reduced dependence on private vehicles amid global energy uncertainties. The move aligns with the broader vision of promoting sustainable and efficient mass transit.
Under the revised schedule, four additional trips will operate during morning peak hours between 8:00 am and 11:00 am, while four more trips will run during evening peak hours between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm between Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut South stations. To support these additional services, two additional trains have been introduced.
The Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor has witnessed an increase in ridership recently and currently records an average daily ridership of nearly one lakh commuters. The growing commuter preference reflects increasing trust in Namo Bharat as a reliable and comfortable mode of regional transit.
Namo Bharat, as the country’s first regional commuter rail system, is designed to provide high-speed, reliable and comfortable regional connectivity. With a maximum operational speed of 160 kmph, it reduces travel time across the region to nearly one-third.
Commuter-centricity has remained at the core of the Namo Bharat system since inception. With an increasing commuter base, particularly as more people choose comfortable and efficient public transport during extreme weather conditions, NCRTC continues to take measures focused on improving travel experience and service delivery.
