The inspection aimed to assess the corridor’s operational preparedness, with continued emphasis on maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Trial runs are already in the advanced stages in this yet to be operational section. The civil construction of the stations has been completed, and finishing works at the stations are progressing at a rapid pace. Shri Goel expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of work and interacted with contractors on site, encouraging them to maintain momentum and put their best foot forward as the corridor approaches its final leg.
MD, NCRTC interacted with workers and engineers on site and encouraged them to maintain the quality, and instructed them to ensure safety during construction while keeping the momentum of the work. He also advised NCRTC officials and contractors to work in tandem ensuring seamless coordination and delivering excellence and emphasized the importance of completing the remaining finishing work within stipulated timelines.
The officials also took stock of work at Begumpul, an underground station situated in the heart of a major market area in Meerut. Measuring 246 meters in length, 24.5 meters in width, and approximately 22 meters in depth, Begumpul is one of the larger stations on the corridor. The finishing work is in its final stages. This station is designed to provide services for both Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro.
During the visit, Shri Goel inquired in detail about the commuter movement and interchange process between Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro trains at stations offering both transit services. He sought to understand the on ground arrangements, signages, progress and operational dynamics to ensure a seamless experience for commuters. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of coordinating closely with DB RRTS India to facilitate a smooth and timely handover of stations for operations.
The officials then proceeded to Modipuram station, the last station of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor. Finishing work, along with the PEB construction, is progressing speedily. Located on the National Highway, NCRTC will provide a Foot Over Bridge (FOB) to facilitate safe pedestrian crossing. The civil construction of the FOB is nearly complete, with finishing work to begin soon. All these stations are being developed as major transit hubs, to offer easy access to autos, taxis, and buses alongside Namo Bharat and Metro services.
After reaching Modipuram, the officials traveled back on the trolley along the down line. Shri Goel expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work and conveyed confidence that NCRTC will complete the remaining section of the corridor within the stipulated timeline.
